  • Southern has been a rock solid company for 70 years. I'm all for upgrading but Southern is doing to much
to fast on to many projects. They need to slow down and use some old fashion common sense. They have
already bought the cow on the two new plants and it's to late to back up. They are bleeding money with no
end in sight. They will have to follow through with what they have started. I'm hoping for some upturn but
don't expect it any time soon. I like regulated utilities but Duke is dealing their coal ash problem so I don't
want to move there. I'm going to watch the trading range and accumulate on the downs and sell on the ups
and hope the dividends stay decent. Grammer school logic but it works fine for me. In three plus years I have
$26 per share invested. Hope I don't wind up with the cow.

  • I believe the rate payers should be re-compensated those billions Because Souther has not done their part of the deal an may not even finish the project. More delays are a death kiss for Southern.
  • First the decision was to be made in June, then delayed till mid July and now another delay what is really going on with SO?

  • Pure lies and missed deadlines must stop for credibility to be rebuilt. I'm astonished that they feel entitled to take money from the education department and fail to fulfill their part of the bargain.

  • What will happen if Toshiba doesn't make all the payments for the Vogtle fincial disaster? Somebody has squandered the companies and the public's money.
  • This is an unbelievable scandal. It seems nobody noticed or cares about losing money. In many businesses, project failures of that scale would result in dismissals or pay cuts. But not at Southern Company — their top executives saw their annual compensation increase by millions of dollars.

Here is how the three top corporate officials were rewarded in 2016:

    • Southern Company CEO Tom Fanning saw his total compensation increase by nearly 34 percent to $15.8 million.

    • Art Beattie, Southern’s executive vice president, enjoyed an even heftier 37 percent increase in his compensation to $5.4 million.

    • Georgia Power President Paul Bowers ended up with a 36 percent boost in his compensation package to $5.8 million.
  • Those who oversee the Vogtle project should be prosecuted for massive scale of overlooking financial failures. Funny how the delays are now effecting the project analysis and they have pushed back the deadline again... criminals.
  • Just when you thought this stock was headed up past $55. Here we are again at $49. Guess it's time to add more shares on the pullback.
  • Anyone buying after the weakness last week. Getting close to the yearly low.
  • They built a lignite gasification plant tat the same time gas prices fell through the floor. Converting the turbines to burn natural gas instead of gasifying coal and burning that makes more sense now.
  • When you make a mistake, don't look back at it long. Take the reason of the thing into your mind and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet in your power. http://dataunion.tistory.com/11644

  • The agreement with Toshiba concerning Vogtle seems like a really positive development. Certainly more relevant to Southern Co. than a congressional race.
  • ✔️🔵 Democrat Ossoff - lies about his resume and never went to the front lines. He sent a film crew there he's a California San Francisco Nancy Pelosi flaming liberal. Not good for Georgia unless you want more of Obama liberal legislation run down your throat.
