Syngenta AG, an agribusiness company, engages in the crop protection, seeds, and lawn and garden markets worldwide. It discovers, develops, manufactures, and markets crop protection products, such as herbicides for corn, cereals, soybean, and rice; fungicides for corn, cereals, fruits, grapes, rice, soybean, and vegetables; insecticides for fruits, vegetables, and field crops; and seed care, primarily in corn, soybean, cereals, oilseeds, and cotton. The company is also investing in abiotic stress management and biocontrol solutions. In addition, it produces and markets seeds and plants, which are developed using genetics and related technologies; and offers approximately 200 product lines and approximately 5,000 varieties of its own proprietary genetics. Further, the company provides professional growers and consumers with flowers, turf and landscape, and professional pest management products through specialized distributors, dealers, and professional applicators, as well as directly to growers. Syngenta AG was founded in 1999 and is headquartered in Basel, Switzerland. As of May 24, 2017, Syngenta AG operates as a subsidiary of China National Chemical Corporation.
