If 9988 stays around current level and 0700 drops 3% I'll switch some money back to Tencent.
If not, I'll hold more Alibaba for the time being. I believe both are great companies.
Alibaba more heavy in ecommerce and cloud computing and Tencent more in gaming.

I am bullish on Tencent, but I took profit on all my position and added Alibaba. The regulatory tension impacted Alibaba more than normal and on another side did not yet impact Tencent. And the ratio's favour Alibaba highly at these levels. Longterm very bullish on both.

There was an interesting interview with Tencent's President Martin Lau published in the South China Morning Post. The article is titled “Tencent insists it is a collaborator, not a disrupter, of China’s financial markets” The article discuses China’s latest regulatory changes in the fintech industry that tanked the Ant IPO and the possible implications for Tencent's WeChat Pay. Worth a read for Tencent investors.

This company is genius. Should have an market value like Amazon or Apple. In 1-2 years it will close the gap for sure. China won't touch it, bacause it's an insurance for leading innovation worldwide.
    Bullish

O.K., so the Chinese government is 'cracking down' on the big internet giants. But, how much are they really willing to do? Those companies (BABA, TCEHY, JD, Meituan) bring in a lot of money from abroad as well as help businesses throughout China. They also generate huge tax revenues for the Chinese government. They are not going to 'cut off their nose to spite their face', so to speak.

This is similar to what happens to our big giants, too (MSFT, INTC, AMZN). Governments accuse them of monopoly control, investigate, and then slap fines on them. In the meantime, they continue to grow.

I just don't see this as anymore than political posturing by the Chinese central government. It's designed to reassure competitors and small businesses. They are not going to kill those companies just for political purposes.

With Tencent you have a wide spread of high growth companies. Including Huya, a leading platform for esports tournaments and gaming broadcasting. Huya is backed by Tencent and is going to merge the first half of 2021 with Doyu.

Tencent has a 21.6% stake in Kuaishou Technology which has an IPO coming at Hong Kong stock exchange before the end of the year. Can anyone please advise how a U.K. resident can participate in this and such other IPOs? Thanks
