although the date the stock SHOULD move down is the EX-Dividend date..... it moves down the day the distribution is given... This December 12th, with large capital gains increases(both long term and short term) it gave out a $1.5382 dividend.... last quarters in 2017 it was $.1226, $.1260 and and $.1258. December 2016 it was $.2469.... so basically, to make sure you are seeing the decimal points... it was a about one dollar and 54 cents vs last year of about 25 cents...It paid out over $1.90 for the year. some of it to be taxed as income, some at long term and short term gains. Good luck to all. MAGA

I now have an answer for the drop. every December Mutual Funds distribute a portion of the earnings in the form of extra shares to the shareholders or cash.
you should see an increase in your amount if shares in a day or two.

IF ONE DAY THEY ARE ABOUT TO GIVE A BIG DIVIDEND, IT MAKES SENSE IT IS WORTH LESS THE DAY AFTER THE DIVIDEND.
