To see the illness of UPL, compare CLR's closing % up/dn with UPL. UPL always give back gains. Today CLR is up 1.85%. UPL is in the red. I own no CLR but that is the standard for nat. gas drillers. UPL gives too much to its CEO and execs. I hope Fir Tree will clean them up. The will be wailing and weeping in the UPL's offices but in time the fluff has to go.

Investment firm Fir Tree Partners said on Monday it would immediately begin talks with Ultra Petroleum Corp's(UPL) management to pursue strategic alternatives.

Fir Tree is the largest shareholder of the natural gas producer, with an 18.5 percent stake as of Sept. 1.

Any thoughts why UPL had to have an update on SEC filings? Was this not part of the quarterly filings a few days ago? Or is it an adjustment? It would explain the 1.4% fall today. Nat. gas is only off 1/2 %.

UPL got smoked after hours. Terrible for a stock that doesn't trade after hours. It will be like this until they retire the CEO. It is a rarity when a company cares so little for it shareholders. We got nailed again.

Whenever the market goes up UPL goes down. Whenever the market goes down UPL goes down. Fir Tree is probably regretting the day they ever heard of UPL, Mr. Watford, and his corporate lawyers. Everything is green on my screens today except UPL. Even CHK is up a percent. Nobody trusts UPL anymore.

Whenever UPL gets a leg up they end giving a ton of stock to an executive or Fir Tree for a dime on the dollar. When every other Nat. gas stock gets hit for a percent, UPL gets dinged for 5%. This stock is a money machine for a few exec's and the CEO. Its ran just like Aubrey used to run CHK, Who do you think taught these clowns. Please quit hedging the future Mr. Watford, and let the stock run. You got your golden parachute for running the company into bankruptcy. Please don't do it again. Someone stop this train wreck!

I own UPL stock but regret the purchase. It's operated like before it went bankrupt by the same executives. The same goes for CHK. Many of these small producers sell stock way into the future for cash, and hedge hoping the price will recover. There was a short time this worked but nat. gas is back below $3.00 as it was 20 years ago. If they worked together it might be different. But as a rule, each dumps as much on the market as it can borrow to produce, even in the summer time. We need new blood. CEO Watford was given 7% of $300 million of UPL after bringing UPL through bankruptcy that he bankrupted. He has been there since 1999. He could bankrupt UPL one more time in his long career.

When nat. gas futures goes up 2% and UPL falls 8% on the same day, there is a huge problem.

This will be a dead stock until the CEO is gone. He has no vision and is fearful. It needs to run tighter like Hamm runs CLR.

This CEO at UPL has got to go. He has already taken UPL through bankruptcy. He likes to spend money he doesn't have and hedges the companies future on the eternal promise of nat. gas's return.

Natural gas isn't getting killed like crude. California is increasing its reliance on natural gas, the fuel of the future, being exported to the world. This is way oversold.
