    GNOME ON THE RANGE
I believe this could be a nice divvy play addition to one’s portfolio and now is a great opportunity to start nibbling/adding a few shares at this sub-40 level. I have been on the super conservative/guarded investment side for about 3+ months now and plan to stay that way until we get a pullback and vaccine & election news in the fall. The utility plays have been a great addition to add a little spark to a portfolio that contains 70% money market funds, ultra-short bond funds and conservative income funds/ETFs. Good luck & great investing! I have a few utility shares in AWR, MSEX, YORW, ARTNA, UTL.

How about merge the Mass operations with Eversource in a way that incurs no tax liability for Unitil shareholders? My guess is that we would get some ES shares with no major reduction in our stock price. The stock price has lost 40% of its value in the last six months and other utility stocks are faring much better. Right now, management wants a pat on the back for maintaining their dividend but the dividend has been basically flatlined for the last ten years.

February 1, 2009 the stock was at $19.25 and on February 18, 2020 the stock price hit $65.76 a bump of $46.51 in 11 years or so. Wow, winner... winner… chicken dinner, that certainly would have justified a sell at least with my UTL trading positions. A roadblock at $41.38 but oversold now with RSI at 32.45 a tad above neutral. I would hope that the DPR does not exceed 70.00%, would like that instead put back into growth. Looking forward to the divvy this week. Interesting article that states utilities must tighten their belts to survive. “Demand for electricity is unlikely to rebound to pre-pandemic levels until 2022 at the earliest, forcing electric cooperatives and the utility industry overall to make tough choices.” Good luck & great investing! https://www.electric.coop/cobank-report-electricity-demand-unlikely-to-rebound-until-at-least-2022/

On January 1, 2000, Unitil stock price was $35. In twenty years, the company has increased the stock price by $3.40....not exactly a wealth creation machine.

Stock split? Stock price has been cut in half but we didn't get any more shares. The main reason for the decline is the cheap dividend policy. If management is going to do nothing for shareholders then they should just merge with another company and be done with it.

Since 2010, Eversource has doubled their dividend payment while Unitil's has remained basically the same.......why?

This has moved from the $42 range up to the mid $60s the last 24 months or so, I’ve traded this over the years but have kept positions in our retirement fund for the dividend as well. The average utility payout ratio (US) is 70%, UTL has a DPR of 67.19%. This appears to be a good time to add or start a utility position especially with the Fed keeping the interest rate near 0% until 2022. I’ve been adding to my utility positions (bought a few shares of UTL & ARTNA today) since mid-March of this year. The RSI is at 38.56 approaching the oversold 30.00 range and is listed as entering a bullish engulfing pattern.

Interesting info on the conf call, ROE bumped down by warmer weather in Q1, however, commercial growth looks positive, check out their CC. My utility positions, AQN, ARTNA, AWR, MSEX, YORW & UTL. Good luck & great investing!

Stock price is going nowhere. Unitil should sell the Mass business and give proceeds to shareholders. There is no growth in Massachusetts and company should focus its efforts on New Hampshire and Maine where there is opportunity to grow their gas business.

Unitil should sell its Massachusetts operations and use the proceeds for a large one time dividend. The company is basically a New Hampshire and Maine company and their Massachusetts operations are in a no growth area with limited expansion possibilities. UTL has to worry about the Mass regulators and there's no major upside to the Mass business. Sell the Mass business and use the proceeds to reward shareholders and fund operations in higher growth areas.

Earnings report was fine but stock price is going nowhere unless management becomes more shareholder friendly. Issuing new stock and basically keeping the dividend more or less unchanged for ten years is not exactly going to raise the stock price. Especially with interest rates generally rising, a more aggressive dividend program is needed.

UTL needs to increase its dividend. WEC just announced an increase but UTL hasn't raised its dividend in years.

In January 2000, Unitil was paying a quarterly dividend of 34.5 cents. Twenty years later, they are paying 37.5 cents. In twenty years, they have increased it by a total of 10%.....not exactly a dividend machine. Unfortunately, I paid $27 for my shares and don't feel like paying a capital gain tax but the lack of concern for shareholders is ridiculous.

The announced dividend increase of two cents ANNUALLY, NOT QUARTERLY is a slap in the face to loyal shareholders. With 14,000,000 shares outstanding, the increase will cost the company $280,000 annually which is a drop in the bucket.
