If OPEC+ continues to deliver the planned 400,000 bpd increase in November then look for prices to continue to trend higher. If they decide to bump up production as high as 600,000, for example, then look for the start of a near-term sell-off.

As long as price of oil rises so will VDE and any other stock associated with oil. With this administration I wouldn’t be surprised to see VDE hit 90+ by year end.

For those that think oil is a dying industry, I ask you what the replacement is? Electric? Frequently cities are having a hard time keeping electric flowing on hot summer nights with all the air conditioning usage. Now imagine every household having two or more cars plugged in to charge for the next day. And by the way you will need 220 volts run out to your garage to charge you cars. Probably will need get your homes existing 100 amp electric service upgraded to 150 or 200 amps in the process. That should only run you several thousands of dollars. Add to the story that they are not adding any new coal or gas burning electric power plants. Solar and wind are not reliable and can not compete with the required needs. Nuclear would be the only solution, but it takes 10 years to build a plant. My money is that gas powered cars will be with us for a long time.

$VDE just increased its dividend from 0.552 to 0.9232. That is insane!

I think this is just volatility. Normal for the energy sector. Fundamentals have not changed.
Two months ago this was trading near $80. Two months before that it was $65. I'm holding.

I think $90 is a reasonable share price by the end of the year. Oil is reaching $70 a barrel as demand increases. This should help the profitability of the companies that make up this fund.

Purchased 14K shares during Covid-19 when the price was below $40. Thinking about selling after the June dividend. Price should be at or above $80 by then.

Oil obselete? Raise the price of oil drastically, through regs , taxes or anything and see what happens to the economy. 60% of electricity is generated with fossil fuels. People are still buying billions of gas & diesel powered autos. China and the US together sell about 50mil cars a year. I'm sure less than 1% are electric (not that it matters).

Absolutely zero reason this fund should be trading a buck and a half below it's NAV and with crude prices higher than they've been since 2018.

Question, my first time investing in an ETF with dividends. When do they pay it? Monthly? Which date do I have to be invested in it to get the dividend payout?

In with 5,000 shares. Hoping for a short term pull back to increase to 20,000 shares and ultimately would like to hold 40,000 shares if I can find a good entry point. This seems like the lowest downside risk investment currently in the market, with the most upside and biggest dividend for further risk protection and return.

Oil rebounding nicely over $70. Unfortunately, it looks like this fund is tracking closely to the price of crude. The only thing that is going to break that is a jump in XOM based on earnings. Earnings date is 7/30 for both XOM and CVX. I'm hopeful they are going to surpass expectations.
