Telefonica Brasil SA has begun integrating its pay TV service with Netflix Inc's streaming platforms, Brazil's largest telecoms company said on Tuesday, in another step in its focus on high-end services. The plan was announced in principle between Netflix and all of Telefonica SA's Latin America units in May. Customers who are clients of Netflix and the pay TV service offered by Telefonica Brasil, known locally as Vivo, will be able to access Netflix via Vivo platforms starting this month. Gustavo Nóbrega, head of marketing for Vivo's fixed business, said the partnership was part of a larger company focus on enhancing the firm's TV services.

Mobile service company NII Holdings Inc has hired Rothschild & Co to sell control of its Nextel operations in Brazil, two people with knowledge of the matter said, opening the door to consolidation in the country's crowded telecommunications sector. Rothschild was hired recently to organize the sale process of NII's 70 percent stake in Nextel Brazil and has yet to set dates for delivery of bids, according to one of the sources, who asked for anonymity because talks are still private.
