No more chip shortage for VW?

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/volkswagen-design-chips-autonomous-vehicles-121034808.html

HAMBURG (Reuters) - Volkswagen plans to design and develop its own high-powered chips for autonomous vehicles, along with the required software, Chief Executive Herbert Diess told a German newspaper.

"To achieve optimal performance in light of the high demands that exist for cars, software and hardware have to come out of one hand," Diess told Handelsblatt.

Volkswagen did not plan to build semiconductors but wanted to own patents if possible, Diess said, adding that the group's software unit Cariad would develop the expertise and expand.

The move is a response to Tesla, which can integrate custom designed chips, allowing the U.S. company to develop new features faster than its competitors.

"Apple and Tesla have higher competence in terms of how semiconductors are defined," Diess said.

Germany's Daimler unveiled a deal with Nvidia last year to develop and equip its Mercedes-Benz cars with a next-generation chip and software platform.

Hello. Bought VWAPY today. Don't care about voting rights and like the higher dividend. After studying the last 5 year price action there have been multiple times VWAPY has traded at a premium to VWAGY. Not sure why such a large delta now but feel it is a market dislocation and thegap will close, hopefully by VWAPY going up and not VWAGY going down. Bought and sold VWAGY in February for a small profit and been kicking myself ever since. VWAPY is allowing me to somewhat redeem myself. Volkswagen seems much better positioned than Ford or GM and you get paid to wait with a nice divvy. GLTA and honored to eb a small part of this great company.

Look at valuation of tesla: price per sales ratio is 21.58. VW price per sales ratio is 0.51. that means that tesla's share price should be 730/21 = 33.82$
    and VW 's share price should be 33.4 / 0.51 = 57.59$ surprise!

Volkswagen to invest in wind and solar projects
Apr. 29, 2021 6:23 AM ETVolkswagen AG (VLKAF)By: Clark Schultz, SA News Editor
Volkswagen (OTCPK:VLKAF) says it plans to invest about 40M euros in European wind and solar projects by 2025 as part of a broad goal to become carbon neutral. The initiative will see Volkswagen partner with Germany utility giant RWE for a solar park in 2022 that will have a capacity to supply 50K households with power.
Most major automakers are making similar green energy investments.
As for selling cars, Volkswagen is seeing sales grow this year compared to the pandemic-disrupted tallies from a year ago. Global sales expanded 53% Y/Y in March, after dropping sharply in the same month last year amid the spread of the coronavirus. Q1 deliveries rose 21% Y/Y to 2,431,900 vehicles.
