I called 40 a share 2 months ago, but This could go much further in a bear market. This Markets landscape, with everything that is happening, NO ONE CAN CALL A BOTTOM!. I sold 2 months ago at around 43.00 Only had 275 shares, but saved myself about 800.00, but stil lost 800 from 46.00 a share after the capital gains distribution. I believe it will come back, the only question is when?

They switched out of value to tech at the worst possible time after new managers came in.

One thing to say positive is that on these couple Green Day’s it goes up nicely. When the market does finally bottom this will do well

New managers loaded up on usual suspects. Unhappy. Might dump after 22years. Where are the oil and other value stocks?

I have vested for the past 10 years and in the red. I have not made money. I thought this was safer than other funds, but it's down to price of how many years ago?

For this fund to do well, you need the bonds to perform. Anyone think rates are going down? You would have more controll by buying VOO and Vanguard's intermediary term Treasury fund or TLT. Just by the amounts of each you think are appropriate for the times. You can also use limit orders and protective stops. With this fund you can't.

schd just hit a low of 71.64...and it is one of the best performing etf's I think things are going to get much worse, over the coming months.

YTD results for some well known Balanced funds

    VWENX -13.18
    VBIAX -13.76
    FBALX - 14.18
    RPBAX -13.93
    ABALX -9.54 (with sales charge)
    DODBX -6.13

The winner is Dodge and Cox. They are true value shop and use a team approach. Wellington had a manager change in 2020. I wonder if there is a problem with Pouzan and not Bousa at the helm?

I am sticking with Wellington, but this ain't your father's Vanguard anymore.

Better yet, use VOO and Series I Treasury's. You could also sell covered calls with VOO, you can't with Wellington.

I can't help wonder if it is time to consider cutting this loose. I know it's been a staple in the world of investors, but these are unprecedented times, and I am just not sure anymore. All I know is that SCHD has been the holding up better than most, and definately better than wellington.IDK..?

I bought 200 shares at 52 and change, the capital gains distribustion plus all div re invested for another 16 shares. and now I will buy 200 more when it finds a bottom. Always remember this fund has weathered every single storm the market has thrown at it, all the way back to 1929, and she always came back with a vengence. Sleep well!
    Bullish
