2018 has been a big year for IPOs, in terms of both quantity and performance. Through the end of July, 115 companies had made their public debuts on U.S exchanges, a 39% increase from the same period in 2017. More impressive still was those IPOs’ performance: six of them had gained over 150% as of […]
A Kissimmee-area vacation resort developer is ordering up a food hall concept. Magic Development LLC wants to build a 47,000-square foot building that will house a roughly 14,000-square-foot food hall called Gourmet Market and the firm's future 12,000-square-foot headquarters inside its latest Kissimmee development. The firm's headquarters currently is in downtown Orlando at 121 S. Orange Ave. Gourmet Market is expected to open in the second half of 2020 and feature roughly 20 restaurants from across the world. Click through the slideshow below to see renderings of Gourmet Market. “I think this area is an amazing area, but I think the restaurants around it aren’t as good as [the area] deserves,” Magic Development CEO Rodrigo Cunha said at an Aug. 28 media event. SunTrust Center revealed plans in June for a potential food hall at the iconic skyscraper in downtown Orlando.
A Kissimmee-area vacation resort developer is relocating its headquarters and renaming some of its projects as it continues to grow in Central Florida and beyond. Magic Development LLC — which is building the $2.3 billion luxury mixed-use vacation home, hotel and townhouse resort called Magic Place by Pininfarina in Kissimmee — has decided to move its headquarters from 121 South Orange Ave. to its Magic Place by Pininfarina development in Osceola County. The firm currently has offices in the U.S. and Brazil. In addition, Magic Development has decided to change the names for several of its projects, off West U.S. Highway 192 in Kissimmee: Magic Village 1, a 180 short-term rental townhome development in existence, now is called Magic Village Yards. Magic Village 2, a 194 short-term rental townhome and 68 condo project, now is called Magic Village Views.

Wyndham (NYSE: WH) Championship organizers and golf fans from inside and outside the Triad couldn't have asked for a more satisfying and enjoyable week of golf at Sedgefield Country Club. Well, maybe a few Sedgefield members would have preferred fewer inches of pre-tournament and Saturday rain, perhaps preventing PGA Tour pros from knocking down pins and tearing up cups – winner Brandt Snedeker's hole-destroying eagle that highlighted an opening-round 59 comes to mind – while blistering the Donald Ross design. Snedeker, the only player sponsored full-time by title sponsor Wyndham, brought attention to the tournament and its sponsor by shooting a milestone 59 on Thursday, then capped the event with a long birdie putt on the 72nd hole to finish at 21-under-par 259 and win the $1.08 million first prize.
Brandt Snedeker shot 59 in the first round of the Wyndham Championship. After all, Snedeker still has three rounds to play, and judging by Thursday's early scores and more course-softening rain possible for this weekend, he'll have to continue making birdies in bunches for 54 more holes to claim the first prize of more than $1 million. In the hours prior to Friday's second round, sports fans from throughout the world will see, hear and read about Snedeker's 11-under-par round at Sedgefield's Donald Ross Course via various forms of media.
Why do prominent pro golfers such as Wade Simpson, Bill Haas and Brandt Snedeker opt to play in the Wyndham Championship every year? There are several reasons, including timing – they made need to play in an attempt to secure a spot on the Ryder Cup team or on next year's PGA Tour – or familiarity with or enjoyment of Sedgefield Country Club's Donald Ross course and the tournament atmosphere. Snedeker, a two-time former Ryder Cupper, will play in only 23.
“We remain confident in the trajectory of the consumer recovery, as drivers of spending remain solid,” suggests Goldman Sachs consumer analyst Matthew Fassler. At least in Goldman Sachs’ opinion, it’s full speed ahead when it comes to consumer stocks. Goldman Sachs has offered investors 7 consumer stocks, but I’d like to provide alternatives.
Though Wake Forest University graduate Webb Simpson will be the only automatic qualifier for the U.S. Ryder Cup team in the field at this week's Wyndham (NYSE: WH) Championship, the PGA Tour event will have Ryder Cup flavor – especially on the European side. For starters, U.S. captain Jim Furyk will be playing at Sedgefield Country Club.
Increasing trade tension may be weighing on some investors' minds, but with the stock market rallying again and wages increasing, consumers are confident about the economy and their ability to spend, which should bode well for the remainder of this year.
