Cenkos Securities is coming under mounting pressure from an activist investor to find a new chief executive after months of uncertainty over the City of London stockbroker, which has close ties to crisis-hit fund manager Neil Woodford. Crystal Amber, the activist that is Cenkos’s fifth-biggest shareholder, has written to the acting chairman Jeff Hewitt, calling on him to start a new search after an attempt to bring back the broker’s co-founder as CEO was held up by regulators. The criticism from the activist investor adds to the challenges already confronting Cenkos, one of the UK’s biggest specialist stockbrokers.
