The full Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will likely take up Aqua America's proposed acquisition of Pittsburgh-based Peoples Gas at its meeting in December or January with the completion of the deal expected at the end of the year or early next year, Aqua America's CEO told investors Tuesday. Chairman and CEO Chris Franklin said the administrative law judge's proposed approval of the acquisition, which was issued Oct. 28, was a "significant milestone" in the $4.2 billion all-cash deal that was announced Oct. 23, 2018, and expected at the time to be completed by now. "We are pleased with the ALJ's recommendation and respect the process, and the procedure which allows for a full review by the Public Utility Commission," Franklin said during the third-quarter conference call.
