    Dell reports significant PC growth in Q1, but debt on rise

    Dell Technologies Inc. reported Thursday strong sales from its personal computer division while it continued to rack up debt in the wake of its 2016 acquisition of EMC Corp. The Round Rock company, which is the Austin area's largest private employer, reported a net loss of $1.3 billion, or $2.57 a share, on revenue of $17.8 billion for the three months ended May 5, compared with a profit of $55 million on revenue of $12.2 billion a year earlier. Sales from Dell's Client Solutions Group, which encompasses its personal computer division, grew 6 percent to $9.1 billion and accounts for 50 percent of total revenue.
