Entercom Communications Corp.’s stock price declined after the company cut its dividend by 78 percent late Friday. The media company said the decision to lower the quarterly dividend paid to its shareholders from 9 cents per share to 2 cents will free up $39 million that it can use to repurchase its shares and reduce its debt. “We believe that redeploying capital from dividends to both share buybacks and debt reduction will allow us to drive increased shareholder value given our belief that our stock is now trading significantly below its intrinsic value and because this action will allow us to accelerate progress on our commitment to reduce total net leverage to four times,” Entercom CEO David Field said in a statement.
