Why did they choose now and why this water initiative? Who approves and decide on these moves? Thought the trust is supposed to self liquidate??? Was there a general meeting for shareholders on this?
I always thought that their charter prohibited them from not doing anything but buyback shares (and pay a paltry dividend). This water move adds risk to a stock where there wasn't before. Before they were a cash cow, now they're becoming a regular company
Anyone know why the stck is up today?
Absolutely great move today to create a Water Resources Company, In a down oil market, this will make up revenues and address environmental issues, all high margin operations.

When you increase your profits by over 100%, and you are buying back 2% of the shares per year, you should see substantial growth. Even with the price of oil going down, the build out of infrastructure continues, which will increase sundry income as well as royalties.
WOW. Great operating results for TPL just announced-copied below for Q1 2017:
Results for first quarter 2017: Net Income of $14.9 million, or $1.88 per sub-share, for first quarter 2017, compared with $7.3 million, or $0.90 per sub-share, for first quarter 2016. Revenues of $24.2 million for first quarter 2017, compared with $11.9 million for first quarter 2016. Increases of 112.7% in easements and sundry income and 99.5% in oil and gas royalty revenue for first quarter 2017, compared with first quarter 2016.
Best regards to all TPL longs.
Just the beginning
Looks like something is brewing both with the price of energy that TPL has access to and the instability on an international level. Continued incremental decline in the amount of O/S makes this a winner now, IMHO
when will the company put up the full 2016 annual report on the website?
Finally, a selloff! Yes, I hope this falls even lower. On this stock the time to buy is after it plunges. 2018-2020 will be the time to reap profits.
Sell off today mysterious in ADVANCE of Ex Div date? Why would that happen unless a SOP to insider shorts
Just look at TPL what a stock. Great I don't have it.
what's the deal w/ this special $1 div? is the company telling us that the stock is too rich to buy back?
If anyone knows how many acres TPL sold for the 2+ million in land sales in the 4th quarter. What's hard is valuing the land and the premium PE bc of the APA find. TPL had a PE of 35 pre APA. Now it's 70+. That's a large premium for the "black box". I have TPL earning 10.00 plus in 2017. At what PE is the question. And if we can get oil and gas to trend higher.
earnings?....someone please wake the bod
Has anyone found out (yet) how many acres TPL has in Alpine High? I did ask both TPL APA that question and neither was willing to answer. Earnings for TPL may be coming out soon.
Are the royalty acres of aprox 450,000 in addition to the surface acres of 880,000+. How many of the 880k acres have the potential of oil and gas and thus more royalties? How much are TPL acres worth to sell if some of the acres in the Permian are being bought for 20k-40k an acre? I think this opportunity becomes more interesting bc of the "black box" and that the company doesn't confirm what's in the box?
I don't know if it happens every quarter. But beware when TPL gets near a quarterly report. Last time we were cruising + $300. They did a stock buy back that dropped price to $250. It came back. But if I had known I would have sold two days before and then bought back at lower price.
As it is I sold off to commit all in on silver, 12/23
Two trades back to back and over 200 bucks back to back. What can I say except Ultimete Stock Ale@rtsq which you can find in Google
