Houston-based Ultra Petroleum Corp. (UPL) has sold off its Marcellus Shale acreage for $115 million in cash to Alta Marcellus Development LLC, which is a subsidiary of Houston-based Alta Resources LLC. Ultra Petroleum had a 50 percent working interest in 72,000 acres of Marcellus Shale acreage in Centre, Lycoming and Clinton counties but did not operate the acreage, according to a Dec. 21 statement.
