Added to my position at $47 couple weeks ago. I've been buying a lot of other beat down stocks. I cant call a bottom but with a 20 year horizon I'm wagering I will do okay.

This is the time to be buying not selling if you have the cash and time to wait.

My buy from a couple weeks ago at <$48 is looking solid as a great defensive play.

Note: when Buffet sold Delta airlines, I bought....and made a big profit selling at a high point shortly thereafter. It remains volatile, but will recover fully within a year or two. Buffett gets many trades wrong.

VZ --> 5.24% and just raised their rates starting June.....pricing power. Could see small % upside + nice income from dividend. Park the money to ride out the rate hike storm.

The news on Verizon and Buffett just came out:
    https://financialpost.com/pmn/business-pmn/buffetts-berkshire-bought-citigroup-and-other-stocks-sells-big-verizon-stake
Not sure what it all means in terms of Verizon's share price going forward, which is my concern, secondary to its dividend.

CNBC reported Berkshire sold most of it VZ shares not all of them. Makes you wonder who made the decision to sell and if Buffet was the one that said keep some shares.VZ at P/E of 9.54 and yielding 5.31% is exactly the value stock Warren loves.VZ is a good play for 5G , yes, this will be in the future. But selling VZ to go to Citibank a stock well known as being a value trap doesn’t make any sense at all.

I am sick of all the spam on yahoo! I actually try to stay off of the VZ message board now and exclusively use (http://Themaxgains.tech)

Its good that Buffet got out of VZ, no other big seller for next few months. Sp share price won't go down much.

A commenter on VZ's board wrote the following: "VZ current yield 5.35%. But you can get that fed tax free now, so VZ isn't so attractive for its dividend..."
I visited the Treasury Direct website, and I do not see anywhere near 5%, including for the 30-year- bond. Interest rates on the site are much less; however, the commenter may have been referring to I Bonds, which I know little about except for the fact that a buyer is limited to something like $15,000 per year in an I Bonds purchase. If that's true, you still wouldn't be getting so much interest as a whole even at 5.35%. Does anyone else have other info on this? Does anyone see such a high percentage, 5.35%, outside of I Bonds, which, if I'm right, are limited in their purchase.

I think when market bounces, which could be soon, you will see sharp spikes in beating down growth tech, but that may be short lived as smarter money flows into tech stocks with safe dividends like IBM, T, and VZ to ride out the summer of pain
    Bullish

VZ is beginning to look promising; not because it actually looks great though, only because it's one of the few things not taking a big dump every week.

No one knows, but I'm betting Verizon will be back to $50-plus within the next two weeks. There'll be ups and downs, but by the fall/winter it'll move up and stay in the mid-to-high-$50s for a time. Why? The 5G rollout is ramping up and come fall/winter everyone will be at home watching cable & chatting on their phones, especially if COVID brings worse variants.

I have had a decent size stake in VZ for 1.5 years now. It has been rough. I did CAD though.
The strong dividend and P/E under 10, has been keeping VZ somewhat safe for now. This stock is all about subscribers and earnings. We shall see...
