Founded in 1921, Colorado-based Newmont is the largest gold-mining company in the world, with assets and operations in North America, South America, Australia/New Zealand, and Africa. While approximately 91% of its revenues come from gold, the company is also a major producer of copper. It is the only gold producer in the S&P 500 Index.
