Stocks rose on Friday morning following cooler-than-expected inflation data. The Commerce Department reported that its personal consumption expenditures index, the Fed's preferred measure of inflation, rose 0.3% from the prior month in February, slowing from 0.6% growth in January. The year-over-year increase was 5.0%, down from 5.3% a month earlier. The Dow rose 0.5%, the S&P 0.6%, and the Nasdaq 0.7%. Crude oil rose 1% to $75 per barrel, while gold fell $2 to $1995 per ounce.
