Boeing may have gained an edge over Airbus as the jet makers battle for a Delta Air Lines order of up to 100 single-aisle jets, thanks to the Trump effect, an aerospace analyst said Monday. Veteran Bainbridge Island aerospace watcher Scott Hamilton said the Boeing's 737 Max and the Airbus A320neo are almost identical in terms of economics and performance. "Those I’ve talked to in the market think that on the merits, the choice between Airbus and Boeing is a coin toss. Toshiba Corp. and Western Digital Corp. have agreed in principle to settle their legal dispute over the $18 billion sale of Toshiba’s flash-memory business with a formal announcement expected within the next 24 hours, according to people familiar with the matter. The U.S. company will drop arbitration claims in the U.S. that were aimed at stopping Toshiba from selling the chip business to a consortium led by Bain Capital, while the Japanese company will end its legal claims against Western Digital, said the people, asking not to be identified because the matter is private. As part of the settlement, Western Digital will be able to invest alongside Toshiba in a cutting-edge chip plant in Japan and receive a guaranteed supply of next-generation memory chips, they said.

Monsanto Co will give cash back to U.S. farmers who buy a weed killer that has been linked to widespread crop damage, offering an incentive to apply its product even as regulators in several U.S. states weigh restrictions on its use. The incentive to use XtendiMax with VaporGrip, a herbicide based on a chemical known as dicamba, could refund farmers over half the sticker price of the product in 2018 if they spray it on soybeans Monsanto engineered to resist the weed killer, according to company data. The United States faced an agricultural crisis this year caused by new formulations of dicamba-based herbicides, which farmers and weed experts say harmed crops because they evaporated and drifted away from where they were sprayed.

Facebook Chief Financial Officer Dave Wehner said the company had decided to move to a local selling structure in countries where it has an office to support sales to local advertisers. "In simple terms, this means that advertising revenue supported by our local teams will no longer be recorded by our international headquarters in Dublin, but will instead be recorded by our local company in that country," Wehner said in a blog post.

Amazon.com Inc said on Tuesday it was expanding its cloud computing business in China with a new local partner, aiming to win share in an increasingly crowded and highly regulated market. Amazon Web Services (AWS) will start offering customer services based out of the northwestern Chinese region of Ningxia in partnership with local firm Ningxia Western Cloud Data Technology Co Ltd (NWCD), the U.S. firm said. "AWS has formed a strategic technology collaboration with NWCD, and NWCD operates and provides services from the AWS China Ningxia Region, in full compliance with Chinese regulations," Amazon said in a statement.

A partnership between two tech giants, Apple Inc. (AAPL) and Finisar (FNSR), is bringing 500-high paying jobs to Sherman, Texas, the companies announced Wednesday morning. Apple will pay $390 million to Finisar — a Sunnyvale, California-based manufacturer of optical communications components — as part of its $1 billion Advanced Manufacturing fund. Finisar bought the 700,000-square foot old MEMC plant in Sherman for about $20 million earlier this year.

A day after his agency intervened to halt an initial coin offering (ICO) sale, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman, Jay Clayton, issued a note urging investors in cryptocurrencies and ICOs to exercise caution and “ask good questions, demand clear answers and apply good common sense” while investing in the instruments. Clayton also included a list of questions that could help investors make informed decisions.
