If you have an Amazon Echo, your private conversation may not be so private after all. KIRO TV in Seattle reports a family in Portland was alerted by her husband's employee- who was 176 miles away, to 'unplug your Alexa devices right now', you're being hacked. Their Amazon Echo had secretly recorded what they thought was a private conversation between the two of them, and sent the audio file to the employee who was in their address book. They didn't believe it until they heard it for themselves.
Amazon engineers confirmed the story and apologized to the couple but according to the wife, the engineer did not provide specifics about why it happened, or if it's a widespread issue.
