Apple to host iPhone event October 13th

Yahoo Finance’s Kristin Myers and Dan Howley discuss Apple’s iPhone event date.

Video Transcript

KRISTIN MYERS: Let's talk Apple. They have an iPhone event date announcement. So for more on that, we have Yahoo Finance's Textpert Dan Howley. Hey Dan, tell us about what we have going on over at Apple.

DAN HOWLEY: Yeah, Kristin, so October 13, that's the date that Apple is going to host its event. This looks like it's going to be the iPhone event that we were expecting last month but was held up because of COVID-19 and the pandemic around it. This event should show off the iPhone with 5G capabilities. It's kind of alluded to in the actual tagline for the event that has to do with speed. 5G is of a faster version of cellular connectivity than 4G LTE, and that's really got to be the main feature of these phones.

We also could get new headphones from Apple, over the ear headphones that would kind of rival what you would get out of Bose, which we now know have been pushed out of Apple stores, and a new kind of solo speaker that would kind of be a replacement for the HomePod. It would be a smaller version most likely, and we now know that Sonos and its speakers being pushed out of Apple stores as well, so these would rival those. So it looks to be a pretty packed event, but obviously, the star of the show will be the iPhone, which we're tentatively calling the iPhone 12. We just don't know the full name yet.
