Ben Stiller, Sean Penn banned from Russia

Yahoo Finance Live anchors discuss news that Ben Stiller and Sean Penn are among those banned from entering Russia.

Video Transcript

JULIE HYMAN: Actors Sean Penn and Ben Stiller have been permanently banned from entering Russia, along with 23 other US citizens. Russian foreign ministry named 25 high ranking US officials, or I guess, if you consider Ben Stiller and Sean Penn high ranking US officials--

BRIAN SOZZI: Oh, he is.

JULIE HYMAN: --think tank, business people, actors, that are banned from the country over their support of Ukraine during the invasion. Obviously, this is largely symbolic. I don't think Sean Penn or Ben Stiller are planning on filming anything in Russia or traveling there for pleasure any time soon, although Penn has been known as an activist to go to some pretty unconventional places in his time. Didn't he go to Venezuela at one point?

BRIAN SOZZI: I'm just trying to see if this is their time with streaming stocks or AMC, but you know who was a French--

JULIE HYMAN: No.

BRIAN SOZZI: Russia. That's Steven Seagal. He is-- yes.

JULIE HYMAN: Still?

BRIAN SOZZI: Yes, still. He is very, very embraced by Putin and the Russian people. That's been going back a couple of years ago.

JULIE HYMAN: If you look at the Pantheon of high ranking US officials, Sean Penn and Ben Stiller are up here somewhere. I don't even know where Steven Seagal is.

BRIAN SOZZI: Steven Seagal. I think he's down there on the bottom of my shoe somewhere.

[BUZZER]

JULIE HYMAN: Sorry, sorry.

BRIAN SOZZI: I do like his movies, though.

JULIE HYMAN: Do you? I--

BRIAN SOZZI: I do like Steven Seagal.

JULIE HYMAN: I have never, ever, ever seen a Steven Seagal movie.

BRIAN SOZZI: "Hard to Kill," start there.
