AKIKO FUJITA: The move to get Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill is gaining steam over in Washington. Jessica Smith here with an update on that story and a conversation she had with somebody who is spearheading this. And Jess, it's important to put this into context. This is something that was-- discussions that were already underway during the Trump administration. It was sort of put on hold, but where do things stand now?

JESSICA SMITH: Yeah, this is what some-- this was something that was brought up in the Obama administration. That's when this all started. And then the Trump administration really stalled and delayed this effort to put Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. The White House did announce yesterday that it's restarting those efforts and it's looking at ways to speed up that process.

I did talk to Congresswoman Joyce Beatty. She is the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. And she has really been leading the effort to put Tubman on the $20 bill for six years now. She told me that this is a dream come true to have this restarted again. Let's watch.

JOYCE BEATTY: It was important for me because we've not had a female on our currency. And as we talk about our wonderful democracy and as we talk about being reflective of what we've looked like, and what a great moment in history. What a great moment for all women and all Americans, to be able to have such a great legend with a legacy to be on or in the resemblance of Harriet Tubman to be on the bill.

JESSICA SMITH: Beatty told me she is reintroducing her legislation this week that would require any new $20 bill to have Tubman on it after 2024. She says she is doing that to make sure that this process can't be undone or delayed again in the future. So we'll keep you updated on when we might see this change take place. Zack and Akiko?
