Boeing Wins $2 Billion in Navy FA-18 and EA-18G Fighter Contract

Boeing is one of the biggest winners in getting the latest defense contracts from the Pentagon. In a contract worth nearly $2 billion, Boeing will deliver 38 FA-18 fighter-bombers and 21 EA-18 Growler electronic warfare aircraft to the U.S. Navy by the end of 2016. In addition to supplying to the U.S. force, Boeing will deliver 12 aircraft to Australia and perform equipment support services to NATO and the governments of France, U.K. and Saudi Arabia. The single most important contract, however, went to Northrop Grumman. It claimed a contract to deliver 25 new E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft, also to the U.S. Navy. The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye is an upgrade from the previous model and can see more targets at a longer distance. Last week, the Senate Appropriations Committee approved the fiscal year 2015 Department of Homeland Security Appropriations bill. The bill provides $39.2 billion of discretionary funding for anything relates to homeland security, including the newest aircraft. TheStreet's Julia Sun reports from New York.
