SEANA SMITH: Welcome back Yahoo Finance's live market coverage. Three senators are proposing to send Americans up to $2,000 a month. Sibile Marcellus is following this story for us. Sibile--

SIBILE MARCELLUS: That's right. So Democrat lawmakers are saying that the $1,200 stimulus check for one time is not enough for Americans to be able to put a roof over their heads, make ends meet, and put food on the table. So what they're now proposing today is new legislation that would allow for $2,000 a month for every single working household in America. Those who would qualify are those that are making less than $120,000 a year. It would provide an additional $2,000 per child for up to three children.

No need to have filed a tax return last year and no need for a social security number to qualify. This is one of the boldest and most expensive proposals for the next round of fiscal stimulus. And we're going to see if it goes anywhere. But they're clearly recognizing that for Americans, they need more money to make it through the coronavirus pandemic and the massive financial losses.

SEANA SMITH: All right, Sibile. We'll see how this is received down on Capitol Hill. Thanks so much for bringing that to us.
