Don Lemon criticizes Chris Cuomo for giving Kellyanne Conway a platform

The normally friendly banter between Chris Cuomo and Don Lemon was nowhere to be seen Thursday night after a lengthy interview with Kellyanne Conway on Cuomo Prime Time. During the contentious interview, Cuomo continually pressed Conway on the matter of Donald Trump’s hush payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal before the election, his part to play in them, and his ever-changing stories about them. Cuomo gave video and audio evidence to prove the president’s been lying, while Conway deflected and said that the evidence didn’t prove anything. And that’s exactly why Lemon doesn’t think Cuomo should give her the platform. Cuomo believes the fact that Conway can’t give a straight answer is why he has her on. He defended himself, saying, “I lay it out, example after example of what it is, and I keep her on task about it the best I can,” Cuomo said. “And to the extent that she varies, to the extent she redirects, it's all evidence of what they (the Trump administration) want to avoid.” But Lemon wasn’t having any of it. He went on to tell Cuomo that he learned nothing, that there was no worthwhile takeaway from the interview, and viewers mostly agreed. One viewer tweeted, “Don Lemon is on FIRE!!!!! Calling out #CuomoPrimeTime for that foolishness with @KellyannePolls.” While another was just happy to see constructive dialogue, tweeting, “Tonight’s debate shows how we all should approach differences in opinion. Honest, blunt, each party feeling heard. America needs more of this.” And as it turns out, it’s for the benefit of the viewers that Cuomo has Conway on his show. “What do you think they got?” Lemon asked. “I think they saw that she has a hard time justifying what the president has said,” Cuomo replied. “That she tries to use cleverness in place of, certainly, concision. But also having real arguments and real facts. They're not on her side.”
