European Stocks Rise Ahead of U.S. Fed Meeting as Zoopla Property Group Gains in London Trading Debut

European markets rose for a second day Wednesday as investors awaited the outcome of the U.S. Federal Reserve monetary-policy meeting and digested minutes released today from the June 4-5 Bank of England meeting. Shares in Zoopla Property Group plc rose as much as 7.3% in its debut on the London Stock Exchange. In Madrid, shares in Telefónica SA gained 1.21% to €12.58, after Spain’s largest phone company announced an offer to buy Mediaset SpA’s 22% stake in pay-TV company Distribuidora de Televisión Digital SA for €295 million, the second of two deals that will give it full control in DTS. In Sydney, shares in Aquila Resources Ltd. rose more than 7% after the iron ore group asked shareholders to accept a cash bid led by China’s Baosteel Group Corp. and reject a higher all-share offer from Mineral Resources Ltd. Shares in Mineral Resources declined more than 2%.
