JARED BLIKRE: And a new report from Axios, who used Google Trends data to break down some of the top news stories of the year with FIFA World Cup taking the top spot, after Argentina's win last week caused a big spike in Google searches.

1 these stories-- I mean, I take a look at all of these stories. We've got Ukraine, that was out of left field in the beginning of last year. We got the Powerball jackpot. I barely remember that. Will Smith getting clocked. Was that this year?

JARED BLIKRE: It seems like years ago.

JULIE HYMAN: That was my reaction as well.

JARED BLIKRE: It seems like ancient history. And then the tie. We got Queen Elizabeth and Russia.

JULIE HYMAN: So that's kind of a two-for, right? With Ukraine. Elmo was on the list also. Why?

JARED BLIKRE: Had to look that up again this morning.

JULIE HYMAN: Because Elmo had a viral video where he was upset that Zoe's pet rock, Rocco, was getting his oatmeal raisin cookie. Because as Elmo said, Rocco doesn't have a mouth. How is he gonna eat the cookie? I enjoyed watching that for the first time.

So I guess like some of this is a little self-perpetuating. You read the list and then you look up some of the stuff that you missed. But it is interesting to show where traffic was, right?

JULIE HYMAN: On some of these searches.

JARED BLIKRE: I don't think crypto was in there. Nothing about SBF? Anyway.

JULIE HYMAN: Maybe-- I got to look at that again.
