Florida Man Caught Driving Lawnmower on Highway Charged With DUI

A man has been charged with driving under the influence after he was caught riding a lawnmower on a Florida highway on Wednesday, August 5.

Bodycam footage released by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office shows a deputy approach Fort McCoy resident Paul Burke on Highway 316.

The clip shows Burke admitting to the deputy that he’s been drinking. The deputy asks Burke to take a field sobriety test. He says he can’t do it, because he’s “been drinking too much”.

Burke has had three prior DUI convictions, the sheriff’s office said. He’s had his license suspended three times, and revoked four times, they said.

“Driving a lawnmower in the middle of a road where the speed limit is 55 mph is dangerous and illegal … add being drunk into the mix, it can be come fatal,” the sheriff’s office said. Credit: Marion County Sheriff’s Office via Storyful
