Yahoo Finance Live anchors discuss the rise in stock for Freshpet amid news that the pet food company may explore a sale.
BRAD SMITH: Shares of Freshpet, ticker symbol FRPT, let's talk about this one this morning as well. That's moving on up. Yes, sprinting higher by about 10% this morning. It's up as the company is set to seek a potential sale after facing some pressure from activist hedge fund investor JANA Partners, who recently took a 10% stake in the company. A popular time for any of the pet names out there.
BRIAN SOZZI: Yeah, this up online, Brad. And Freshpet now has something called Freshpet Vital Fresh Cut Shredded Chicken Dog Food. You got to see this. Packaging is non-GMO. I would eat this. I would eat this. I want Freshpet to send me some of their food. This is better eating than I have eaten in the past two weeks. This is--
BRAD SMITH: This is cutting season for you, though.
BRIAN SOZZI: This looks good. I mean, I'm sold. That's the critical analysis for today. I want what that dog is eating. This is good.
JULIE HYMAN: What?
BRIAN SOZZI: But I mean, maybe they're not making money off this, Julie. Come on. Come on, what are you talking about? This is great.
JULIE HYMAN: This morning, Sozzi is throwing people off about Peloton. He's eating dog food.
BRIAN SOZZI: But it's so good. You look at this photo.
JULIE HYMAN: I don't even know what's coming next.
BRIAN SOZZI: Look at this photo. It's amazing.
BRAD SMITH: Just ripping Freshpet on the way into the hotel gyms.
BRIAN SOZZI: So good. The carrots are, like, amazing. I've got to start making money off this.
JULIE HYMAN: Maybe you should buy Freshpet, Sozz.
BRIAN SOZZI: Maybe I should.
JULIE HYMAN: You're so enamored--
BRIAN SOZZI: JANA, give me a call.
JULIE HYMAN: --with this dog food.
BRIAN SOZZI: Yeah, this is amazing. It has raisins, too. That's great.
JULIE HYMAN: All right, well, we'll see if anybody's going to buy Freshpet that's not Brian Sozzi.
BRIAN SOZZI: It's honest. I'm authentic.
JULIE HYMAN: Meantime, in just a little bit, by the way, speaking of dog food, we're going to be speaking to the PetSmart CEO.
BRIAN SOZZI: Yeah. I'll ask him. I hope he-- he's probably in agreement. I hope he doesn't think I'm crazy. Like, I would eat this. I would eat it.
BRAD SMITH: All right.
