Tesla cut corners to hit production goals, former workers say

Production employees working in a makeshift tent at Tesla Inc.'s factory in Fremont routinely used electrical tape to patch cracked plastic components, and would knowingly send cars down the line missing nuts, bolts and lugs, in the interest of building as many cars as possible, CNBC reports, citing interviews with more than a half dozen current and former employees. During the Camp Fires last year, when the air quality was so poor that state officials urged people not to go outside, Tesla reportedly continued running the production line inside the tent. Tesla rejected most of the workers' claims as “misleading” anecdotes, saying it's against company policy to cut corners with electrical tape, and that every car is rigorously tested for safety before being leaving the factory.

A high-yield dividend stock doesn't always have to translate into an exceptionally risky stock on shaky financial ground. Which happens to be the case with AT&T (NYSE: T), Royal Dutch Shell (NYSE: RDS-A)(NYSE: RDS-B), and Altria Group (NYSE: MO), all of which sport high dividend yields but don't represent the kind of risks you'd typically associate with such stocks.
