Home Prices, Consumer Spending Point to Slower Beginning to Year

Tuesday kicked off another trading session of big economic reports with the release of February home prices and April consumer confidence figures. The former showed a cooling of the residential real estate market after property values increased at their smallest rate since August. Meanwhile, The Conference Board's Consumer Confidence Index dropped to 82.3 in April from 83.9 in March, its highest point since January 2008. Analysts had expected a reading of 83 over the month.
