International WELL Building Institute founder Paul Scialla discusses impact of COVID-19 on our environment.

International WELL Building Institute founder Paul Scialla discusses the impact of COVID-19 and how it has accelerated our awareness of the importance of a healthier living and working environment.

Video Transcript

PAUL SCIALLA: Unfortunately, this pandemic has been a bit of a catalyst for something that is now becoming very, um, broadly aware in people-- in people's minds is simple fact that what surrounds us matters. What we touch matters. What we breathe matters. How we gather indoors matters. Even the type of lighting we take in through our circadian optic nerve dictates how we'll sleep tonight, how deeply we'll sleep or our energy levels throughout the day.

This fundamental relationship between people and what surrounds them has been the science of our platform and organization for years. You look at the wellness real estate principles-- air, light, water, thermal, acoustics, biophilic elements-- if one good can come out of all of this is a better awareness that our surroundings have a huge impact on our health outcomes. They have a huge impact on our productivity.
