Johnny Depp wins defamation case against ex Amber Heard, awarded $15M

Yahoo Finance Live's Seana Smith breaks down the verdict in the defamation lawsuit between actor Johnny Depp and his ex, actress Amber Heard.

SEANA SMITH: Well, here is a news alert that we want to bring you. Now Johnny Depp has won his defamation case against Amber Heard. The jury finding Heard liable and must pay damages of $15 million. Depp sued her for $50 million after she wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post back in 2018, alleging that she was a domestic abuse survivor. She did not mention Depp by name, but he claimed it cost him lucrative acting roles. While this was a substantial verdict for Depp, it was not complete. Heard did win on one account and was awarded $2 million in damages. Now the panel reaching its decision after 13 hours of deliberations over the course of three days.
