Netflix unveils $2 billion debt issue to fund new content

Netflix bond prices were little moved immediately after the announcement, but can be expected to fall, as the additional debt adds to the company’s credit risk. Netflix said in April it planned to raise $1.5 billion in debt, after raising $1.6 billion in October last year, bringing the total to about $5 billion. Bearish bets against Netflix’s existing $8.4 billion of junk-rated bonds have more than tripled this year to an all-time high of $347 million, Reuters reported last week.

Transcript: Sprint town hall featured story of merger talks, banter between Claure and Legere

You may not have been able to attend the recent Sprint Corp. Town Hall headlined by Chairman Marcelo Claure and T-Mobile CEO John Legere. Sprint filed a transcript of the Oct. 5 meeting with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It previously filed slides from the presentation — in which Legere was formally introduced to the people who would be his employees if Sprint successfully merges with T-Mobile US Inc. During the event, Claure recounted checking his ego and texting Legere about a new merger attempt after realizing that would be the only way for Sprint to “build the killer 5G network” in the U.S. Claure said his main request of Legere when discussing a merger was that Sprint employees get a fair crack at jobs in the merged company.
