McConnell won't reconvene the Senate before 1/19: NBC

Yahoo Finance's Kristin Myers highlights the latest news out of D.C. as the House debates impeaching President Trump for incitement of the Capitol riot.

Video Transcript

KRISTIN MYERS: Welcome back to Yahoo Finance Live. A bit of breaking news right now per NBC News. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is said not to be reconvening the Senate before January 19.

There had been some tweets going out that the senator would actually plan to vote on impeachment as soon as this Friday, so actually before President-elect Biden took his oath of office. We're seeing now, according to his spokesperson, that that will not be happening. So any form of Senate impeachment trial would have to take place in the next administration.
