McCord, who now advises companies and entrepreneurs on culture and leadership, tells CNBC Make It that the sole reason employers post job ads is because they're looking to solve a problem. If you want to get hired at a company, you must then show that you're capable of solving their problem and that you're the best option for the job. "The way I interview is I start with the problem we're trying to solve and see if this is the right person to solve it," says McCord.
Your nest egg is made up of two component parts: the contributions you diligently make to your retirement accounts throughout your career, and the investment returns that those contributions earn for you. Not surprisingly, your contributions — and those of your employer, if you receive matching funds in your 401(k) — initially dwarf what your investments earn in the market. At that point, you’ll be in the sweet position of watching your investments effectively do the bulk of your savings for you.
It’s been a big year for free speech at the Supreme Court. Two of the most high-profile cases argued before the court so far have revolved around free speech rights, four other cases on the docket this term involve free speech questions, and yet another case where the issue is paramount greets the court on Tuesday. The court today is hearing arguments on whether the state of California is trampling on the free speech rights of crisis pregnancy centers — nonprofit organizations that do not perform abortions and encourage women to seek alternatives to the procedure — by requiring them to post notices explaining patients’ ability to access abortion and other medical services. In December, attorneys for a baker at Masterpiece Cakeshop in Colorado argued that a state anti-discrimination law violates his free speech rights as a self-described cake artist by requiring him to make a wedding cake for a gay couple.
Steve Wynn plans to sell some or all of his entire $2.2 billion stake in the casino company he founded, a week after settling an acrimonious court fight with his ex-wife that freed each to do as they wish with their share of the family fortune. The potential sale and the unwinding of the shareholder agreement that prevented Elaine Wynn from lowering her 9.3 percent stake potentially make Las Vegas-based Wynn Resorts vulnerable to a takeover. Casino regulators in Nevada, Macau and Massachusetts are still investigating the company’s handling of harassment claims against Steve Wynn that were first raised in the couple’s bitter six-year court battle -- probes that could result in him being found unfit to be the largest shareholder in a casino company.

President Donald Trump may not have realized on Monday that his executive order would step on Russia’s toes. Its official target was Venezuela, specifically the country’s plan to create the world’s first state-backed cryptocurrency, the petro, which went on sale Tuesday. Citing economic sanctions that the U.S. imposed against Venezuela in August, the order simply made clear that anyone who buys or uses the new cryptocurrency would be in breach of those sanctions, as would anyone under U.S. jurisdiction who helps Venezuela develop the petro.

Republicans are privately alarmed that Trump may try to oust Mueller — a move that would risk setting off a constitutional crisis — but few have threatened specific consequences if the president does so.
