AKIKO FUJITA: Can we talk about one more big sports headline that we got this morning?

JOSH SCHAFER: Sure.

AKIKO FUJITA: Serena Williams saying that she is considering retiring. She's not officially retired.

BRIAN CHUENG: They'd both be, so, yeah.

JOSH SCHAFER: It seems like she might be retiring after the US Open, though. That was sort of how I read the Vogue piece.

BRIAN CHUENG: Right, it's heavily suggested.

JOSH SCHAFER: It seems like it's--

AKIKO FUJITA: So this is an essay that she wrote for Vogue.

JOSH SCHAFER: Right, and I mean, yeah, Serena Williams, 39 Grand Slam titles, 23 singles titles on her own. The 39's combined, a lot of those with her sister, Venus. And the biggest thing that stands out there, too, is the career winnings because tennis is that kind of sport, where you have to win to earn the money, right?

That's not $94 million in salary. That's more than double the next closest player because of how dominant she was at the sport. And that's personally what I love about tennis and golf and sports like that, is you have to win to earn that money. And it really shows you how good Serena Williams was and how dominant she's been.

BRIAN CHUENG: Interesting she said in the piece that she felt like, as a woman, you know, she kind of had to choose between extending her career or being with her kids. She took a shot at Tom Brady, kind of saying like, well, you know--

AKIKO FUJITA: Well--

BRIAN CHUENG: --I could have Tom Brady'd the situation here.

AKIKO FUJITA: I don't think it was a shot, right? It's just a fact.

BRIAN CHUENG: Right, right, right.

JOSH SCHAFER: I think it is a fact.

AKIKO FUJITA: Which is the fact, physically, women cannot-- after they have kids, right? And she's considering another kid is what she says. It's tough.

JOSH SCHAFER: Yeah, and it totally changes the scope of what she's able to do versus what Tom Brady is able to do. And I think she sort of insinuated she might have played longer if she was like Brady.

BRIAN CHUENG: Well, if this is it, honestly, one of the greatest of all time.

JOSH SCHAFER: Absolutely.

BRIAN CHUENG: Yahoo Finance's Josh Schafer, thanks so much. Let's take a look at markets before we say goodbye here on the 11:00 AM. We can see markets still in the red, the S&P 500 down 4/10 of a percent, and the NASDAQ down 1 and 1/4%. But for Akiko and I, thanks so much for tuning in to the 11:00 AM. We'll see you same time, same place tomorrow. Have a good one.
