‘She’s 50 and looks her age.’ Fans defend SJP after online trolls hit hard

“Since when was aging a problem?” “Not everyone believes in plastic surgery.” Sarah Jessica Parker dazzled in a gold Dolce & Gabbana gown, but social media trolls were more focused on her looks than on her outfit. Newsroom commenters stepped up to defend the 53-year-old actress. On Monday, SJP hit the red carpet in an elaborate number with a nativity scene headpiece that perfectly embodied the evening’s theme, “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.” Parker has been an attendee at the star-studded event for years, but this year she was unfairly mocked on Twitter and Instagram. One user tweeted, “I didn’t realize Sarah Jessica Parker was 75 years old until I saw her at the Met Gala.” Newsroom readers, however, are sticking up for SJP: “I think she looks her age, which frankly isn’t something that anyone should feel bad about or be ridiculed for” — preach! Another commenter chimed in, “I thought Sarah looked magnificent.” What do you think? Join the conversation in Newsroom.
