Yahoo Finance's Jared Blikre examines the market action heading into the closing bell, as well as taking a look at Nasdaq leaders, sector actions, Hycroft Mining, the travel industry, volatility levels, ARK ETF component stocks, and semiconductors.

Video Transcript

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Welcome back to Yahoo Finance. In our countdown to the closing bell, let's check how the major indices are faring so far. Let's bring in our very own Jared Blikre on the interactive. Jared.

JARED BLIKRE: Well, I thought I'd start off with some eye candy. This is very nice to see, very welcome as of today, compared with yesterday's price action. We see Microsoft up over 3 and 1/2%. Guess what? So is Amazon. Tesla is up 4 and 1/2%, Nvidia's up 7 and 1/2%. Just looking at some of our leaders here, we can see on the upper left here, KWEB. That is the Chinese Internet ETF. You might call it a dead cat bounce, but it's up 4 and 1/2%, followed by chips, followed by the ARK Innovation components.

Homebuilders, gambling, IPOs, retail, solar energy as well. So all of these are outperforming. As I've said, we've seen this movie before. However, while we're seeing some nice gains today-- and HyCroft Mining, interesting to see you again. While we're seeing some nice gains today, this movie has been seen before. In fact, we had a better day only four days ago. Nevertheless, we are looking at some gains potentially into the close today for the prior two days.

Just checking out some of our other indicators here, let's take a look at the VIX, finally trading under 30 first time in a while here. Also looking at the five-year T-note yield, we didn't have a lot of bond action this day in particular. So I think that's why the markets are kind of in respite mode.

Let's get back to our heat maps. I want to show you one more before we go, and this is the ARK Innovation components. A lot of bouncing back here, but again, will these hold? We'll have to see coming into the final bell here. Also checking out the travel sector, seeing that jump a little bit. Carnival Cruise Line up 5%, United up 9%. Nevertheless, semiconductors have been leading the way today--
