Jared Blikre breaks down today's market action and some of the biggest leaders and laggards.

Video Transcript

BRAD SMITH: Welcome back to Yahoo Finance Live, everyone. Hey, we're just minutes away from the end of today's trading session. Let's sprint on over to Yahoo Finance's Jared Blikre with the key levels to watch going into the close, as we're down across the board. Jared.

JARED BLIKRE: That's right. Just taking a look at the YFi Interactive here, S&P 500 off 4/10 of a percent. Pretty close to session lows, but 4/10 of a percent not that big of a loss here. However, we have been in a downtrend for the last 10 trading days. You can see down about 5% over that period, a little bit more substantial if you think about it.

Now, let's take a look at the sector action for today. Energy in the forefront. That is XLE up over 1 and 1/2%. Crude oil, WTI, closing over $100 a barrel for the first time in days. Also got those hot inflation numbers this morning. Talk a little bit about that in a second.

Kicking off big bank earnings tomorrow, ahead of that, XLF, the financial sector ETF for the S&P 500, that is down 1%. Health care also down a similar percent. And then communication services and tech, those mega-cap laden heavy sectors, those are down, too, but Apple finally climbing in the green. That's up over 1%, Tesla up 1%. And just taking a look at the biggest winners and losers inside the NASDAQ 100, we can see more losers than winners, but it looks like DocuSign taking up the bottom position. They're down 3%. NetEase also down a similar amount.

Want to take a look at Chinese stocks because we've got a few new names added to that list of companies that the SEC has trouble with their financials with overseas. So who is the latest? And we've seen a lot of these names pop up on that list. We can see a lot of these names under more pressure today.

Also want to check in on our leaders. And this is our sentiment index here, our sentiment heat map. And we can see KWEB that we were just talking about those Chinese ETFs, Chinese stocks. That is down over 1 and 3/4 of a percent. Also looking weak today, we got the FDM-- that is the US internet stocks-- along with biotech rounding out some of the bottom performers. Also KRX, that is the KBW Regional Bank Index that is down about 8/10 of a percent today.

RACHELLE AKUFFO: And speaking of down performers, we're taking a look at Bitcoin, under $40,000 today. What's happening there?

JARED BLIKRE: That's right. Well, we've seen a bit of volatility over the last few days in Bitcoin. I just want to show you what's happened over the last 10 days. You can see in a definite downtrend right there. But if you look at the longer term basis, we've got 20 seconds or 30 seconds to the closing bell here. You can see we've come down a substantial amount from these lows, but nevertheless, technically, in an intermediate uptrend. And just tracking stocks as we head into the closing bell we're going to get a check on our crypto stock heatmap. And we can see, again, more red than green here today, guys.
