Stocks near session highs, looking to shake off 7-day loss streak

Yahoo Finance Live's Rachelle Akuffo details the action that market and sector indices are seeing today ahead of the closing bell.

Video Transcript

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Let's give you a quick market check on the interactive an hour before the close. So taking a look, you see the major indices, all three in positive territory. You see the Dow up 1 and 1/2%, the S&P 500 up 1.8%, and the NASDAQ had the biggest gainer on the day. Now as we take a look at the NASDAQ 100, you also see that that's up about 2% there.

But I want to get a look at the sector action because as you can see here, that's being led up mostly by utilities. If you take a look, that's up almost 3% there. But as you see the biggest laggard of the day, energy losing about 1.4% there. So one to track for the day, the only laggard out of those sectors on the day.
