U.S. manufacturing, services activity better than expected in September

JULIE HYMAN: Just want to quiclkly bring you some economic news here. The S&P Global-- Global PMIs are out here. On the manufacturing front, coming in better than estimated at 51.8. That's the preliminary September number.

Services coming in better than estimated as well. Still showing contraction, below 50 at 49.2. And that means the composite is better than estimated at 49.3 versus the 46.1 that was estimated.

So again, here, getting these measures of purchasing managers index and actually coming in better than estimated on all three measures-- the manufacturing, the services, and the composite. Services still showing, as I mentioned, a little bit of contraction here. But I don't know, this is perhaps a little bit more of a positive number to be sure. The economic data, as of late, has been mixed. It's not clearly sort of one direction or the other.
