UN food chief: 'Catastrophe on top of catastrophe'
STORY: Through a video call, WFP Executive Director David Beasley warned the UN Security Council, it could be "a catastrophe on top of a catastrophe in the months ahead", with a global impact "beyond anything we've seen since World War Two".
He pointed out that 50% of the grain bought by WFP had been coming from Ukraine, yet farmers are now fighting on the frontlines, and added that the crisis was compounded by a lack of fertilizer products coming from Belarus and Russia.
