SEANA SMITH: More headaches for travelers. This summer, United cutting 12% of its flights out of Newark-- that's the airline's hub-- this summer. Now, that equates to about 50 flights a day. Now this is in an effort, they say, to tame delays.

The cuts will start July 1st and only impact domestic routes. Now, United executives claiming that the delays out of Newark Airport have nothing to do with the staffing concerns on their end, but are a result, rather, of airport construction and constraints in air traffic control-- not sure if I'm buying that.

But Newark has the rate right now of the-- the second highest rate of delayed flights in the country, according to flight tracking site, FlightAware. United is far from the only airline to do this. Delta, JetBlue, Spirit, Southwest, Alaska Airlines have all trimmed their schedules already this year.
