United Airlines joins Uber, Lyft, and Shake Shack in COVID-19 vaccine push

KRISTIN MYERS: United Airlines is giving vaccinated MileagePlus members a chance to win a year's worth of free flights. We have Yahoo Finance's Brooke DiPalma here with all this-- with all of those details.

BROOKE DIPALMA: Kristin, that's right. Between today to June 22nd, passengers can upload their vaccination records onto the website or the app and win a potential chance at the Your Shot to Fly sweepstakes. Now the sweepstakes announced today by United Airlines is all part of an extended effort by multiple companies to really push the COVID-19 vaccination, along with the White House.

So some incentive here, as throughout the month of June, United plans to give away 30 pairs of tickets. Then, on July 1st, it will randomly select 5 MileagePlus members-- that's its royal loyal program-- loyalty program, that is-- a chance to win the grand prize of tickets to a free year of flying. Now you can do any class of service, along with any travel destination, to any place you want to go in the country.

Now I do want to note, this comes at a time when both airlines and cruise line industry stocks are seeing a bit of an uptick as people begin to go out and travel once again. I do want to note that although there is that uptick in travel, the TSA is still mandating that you must wear a mask, vaccinated or not, throughout September 13. So it's important to steer clear, but also, if you do get vaccinated, then you win a chance at all these free incentives.
