'Voice' contestant shockingly survives double elimination with electric performance

Adam Levine found himself in a difficult situation on The Voice Tuesday night when two of his team members ended up in the bottom three, and only one could be saved. The three contestants singing for their Voice lives were Team Alicia's, Christiana Danielle, who sang a pedestrian "Unchain My Heart"; Team Adam's Jackie Verna, who sang Carrie Underwood's "I Told You So"; and Rayshun LaMarr, who brought all the energy with Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On." After Rayshun's performance on Monday of the obscure song, "Grant Green," which only charted at #156 on iTunes, Rayshun needed to bring it, and his coach made it pretty simple for the audience. Adam asked the audience, "Do you want to be deprived of this?" referring to Rayshun's electric performance. When they replied, "No!" he then asked, "Is it a shame that he's even in the bottom to begin with?" which they followed up with, "Yes!" That's when Adam told the audience, "Then, do something about it. Okay?" All of this was nothing new for Rayshun, who avoided elimination two weeks ago when he beat out D.R. King, and then last week, became only the second person in Voice history to not be on the bottom a week after getting the Instant Save. So when Carson Daly called his name, we shouldn't have been surprised to see "Nine Lives" Rayshun escape elimination once again. The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
