Washington State Pot Stores Open Doors on Day One of New Marijuana Law

Washington is the newest member to the legalized recreational marijuana club, the second state in the U.S. to pass the law to allow for the sale of the drug for non-medicinal use. The first legal stores will open their doors to customers beginning Tuesday, around six months after Colorado made history as the first state to do so. However, doubts have been voiced that, like what was seen in Colorado in the early days, there will be a short-term squeeze in supply to meet overwhelming demand. Twenty-four marijuana retail licenses were issued Monday, meaning they can begin to stock and sell on Tuesday.
